Career Highlights

2009

After 15 years at the highest level of the sport, winning 11 World and European medals and competing in two Olympic Games, Anna makes the decision to retire from professional canoeing. Anna continues to present regularly on the motivational speaking circuit and is pursuing a career in sports broadcasting


2008

Anna becomes an Olympian for the second time… Anna partnered Jessica Walker in the K2 500m women’s event at the Beijing Olympic Games, they finished 16th

Anna wins the 2008 Surrey Sports Personality of the Year Award.


2007

For third time in a row Anna successfully defended her world title in the K1 Marathon Racing World Championships. Total number of world titles up to 6 now.

Finished 8th in K1 200m at the Sprint World Championships. 9th in the K1 500m at the European Championships.

Anna is awarded an honourary fellowship by Royal Holloway, University of London

For the 2nd year in a row Anna winns the Elmbridge Sports Personality of the Year Award

Anna is also crowned 2007 BBC London Sports Personality of the Year


2006

-Successfully defends Marathon Racing World title, taking her total number of world titles to five.

- Anna is presented with the Elmbridge Sports Personality of the Year Award.

- Secures sponsorship with SpinVox, the world’s first voice to text service.


2005

Anna wins the K1 event at the Marathon Racing World Championships in Perth, Australia. It is her 4th World title.

Came 1st in K1 event at the Marathon Racing European Championships

Anna regains her European crown to take her 3rd European title.

Anna wins "Champions Award" at the Sunday Times Sportswomen of the Year Awards


2002

Came 6th in the Sprint Racing World Championships K2 200m

Secured sponsorship with AlphaGraphics, the global rapid response print network


2001

Graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London with degree in Economics and Management (2:1)

Won the Marathon World Championships in both the K1 and K2 classes - only the 2nd athlete in the history of the event to ever win both the classes at the same championships. (K1 26miles Saturday, K2 26miles Sunday) – Anna becomes a double World Champion

Came 7th at the Sprint Racing World Championships K1 500m - Anna became the first British woman in 10 years to make the final at the World Championships in an Olympic discipline.


2000

Was a semi finalist in the Sydney Olympic Games K1 500


1999

Won the Marathon World Championships K1 - Anna’s first world title where she became the first British woman to win a world title in K1 marathon racing.


1998

Signed contract with Nike in January

Came 2nd in the Marathon World Championships K1

Was runner up in the Sunday Times Sports Women of the year Awards (student category)
